Resume as an Analyst

Brief resume for Ron Beatty as systems analyst.

e-mail: RSBeatty@gmail.com

The ideal systems analysis job for me includes hands-on rapid prototyping development, preferably using JAVA and UML. This would be highly technical computer work involving a great deal of planning and brainstorming, either solo or as a member of a motivated and enthusiastic team. Unified Modeling Language is exciting for analysis since it provides an internet conduit for timely user review and feedback. Language and operating system are non-problems because I learn extremely quickly and am usually up to speed and productive within a month.

My twenty years of professional experience includes work as a computer programmer, applications programmer, systems programmer, systems analyst, and rapid prototyping systems developer. System analysis has been part of nearly every job, so I am totally qualified and ready to help with your system analysis needs. In contrast to the average computer professional, I actually prefer to perform the jobs that require computer assistance. This allows me to be far more knowledgeable about the needs of the users and about their process. After all,

if you automate a lousy manual system, you end up with a lousy computer system.

My alma mater is MIT, which granted me an SB in theoretical mathematics in 1970.

My favorite challenge is solving knotty problems which require ingenious solutions.

I have excellent communication skills and an overdose of the Protestant work ethic. If there is a need, it is not unusual for me to work 60 to 80 hours a week. My stamina and attention span support those long hours, and my productivity and focus benefit from them. I am also a very effective public speaker, and enjoy making presentations and teaching.

In most environments I rapidly become the resident expert in the language or application being used.

"Recently" I telecommuted as consultant using Unified Modeling Language and JAVA to prototype and document a global criminal justice information system. UNIX, JAVA, and UML are favorites although I still like C and C++, and yes, I do Windows and build websites.

This link to my six-page, detailed resume covers my 35-year career, or, if you are looking for specific qualifications, here is the alphabet soup from previous jobs (with links to interpretations): Windows, BAL, BASIC, C, CDL, CICS, COBOL, COGO, DECAL, FAP, FORTRAN, HTML, ICETRAN, JAVA, JCL, MAD, MULTICS, MS-DOS, OS-360, OS/MVT, OS/VS1, PL1, RPG, SPSS, UNIX, UML, VIDEO/370, VM, XENIX, and assembler languages for PDP, Tempo, GE and IBM computers.
