Ballbusters Club Rules & Administrative Details

Club Rules

  • We are keeping the individual format again this year.

  • Each tournament will have payouts made each tournament from the participants of that tournament. The prize fund will be collected at each tournament and distributed the following tournament.

  • We have approximately 16 - 20 slots reserved for each tournament this year and have financially committed to each course for this privilege.

  • Each member will have to indicate that they wish to play in a given tournament 3 weeks in advance. Payment will also need to be forwarded before the signup date indicated since we do not keep any club dues to pre-pay the green fees. (The first tournament is exempt from this policy as we have the 2016 winnings to pre-pay from.)

  • You must pay for the following tournament at the current tournament. For example, at January’s tournament you will be required to write a check for March’s tournament. Since most of the courses require the club to pay green fees several weeks in advance, the Ballbusters account floated the loan temporarily from the club dues. Unfortunately, the account does not have enough funding to cover multiple players. Any penalties or forfeited deposits will have an effect on the prize awards distributed at the end of the year.

  • In the event that more than 20 players indicate a willingness to play, we will attempt to add additional times with the indicated course. Should we be unable to do so, the first twenty players to sign up and pay by the signup date will be entitled to play. Current Ballbusters members will be given priority in these situations.

  • In the event we do not have enough players to fill the 20 slots, we will attempt to see if we can reduce the number of slots for that tournament without penalty. Should a penalty be incurred, money will be taken from available prize funds to reimburse the club. Thus, it is every member’s responsibility to ensure we have at least twenty players each tournament.

  • Check at each tournament for which tee markers we’ll be playing from. We will target the set of tees that will make the course play competitive for everyone.

  • As a courtesy to us, you should show up to a tournament and check-in with us at least 30 minutes prior to the first starting time. We will handle any outstanding administrative issues or payments at this time.

  • We will abide by the local golf rules as dictated by the USGA. It is expected that you follow these rules since prize award money is determined by the play during the year. Any individual changes for a specific tournament will be communicated prior to the first group that day.

  • For those individuals who do not have an established index, a submission of 5 previous scores will be used to determine an index for entry into the optional monthly low net stakes. This index may be adjusted on a monthly basis until an index is officially established.

  • Golfers who wish to participate in the Golfer of the Year competition must have a recognized index through an approved handicapping system. This is to ensure fairness throughout the competition.

Club Scoring and Prize Awards

  • Individuals will compete monthly for prize money collected for each tournament in various formats. These formats may include:

  • Individual Net Score. There will be two flights, if sufficient numbers allow, split evenly by the index dividing the higher and lower halves. This designation will be made prior to each tournament.

  • Team Net Score (Blind draw). Combined net scores will be used to determine lowest winning scores. The blind draw will be made prior to the tournament start.

  • Individual Match Play (Blind Draw for Opponent prior to round). Total net score per hole. (6 points for winner, 2 points for loser in each match) These points will be added to Golfer of the Year totals.

  • The prize fund for these formats will be $5.00 per eligible person per event.

  • Again this year, we will total the individual points awarded during the year to determine our “Golfer of the Year” award. All Ballbusters members in good standing will qualify for “Golfer of the Year”. Individuals will be ranked and awarded prize money for the top 5 golfers. Any ties will split the award money for that particular placement.

  • The prize fund for the “Golfer of the Year” award will be COLLECTED AT EACH TOURNAMENT. This $5.00 fee will be collected prior to EACH tournament played in 2017. Non-qualifying players will not be responsible for this fee.

  • A final determination of the places paid out will be determined upon the number of individuals participating and monetary adjustments for tournament scheduling, if necessary.

  • Golfer of the Year Scoring: The top 5 golfers will receive points for their net score matched against the field for that month regardless of any other tournament format.

    • The Low Net player(s) = 7 Points

    • 2nd Low Net player(s) = 5 Points

    • 3rd Low Net player(s) = 4 Points

    • 4th Low Net player(s) = 2 Points

    • 5th Low Net player(s) = 1 Point

    • Any ties will receive the same number of points for that position with the minimum points receive is 1 point. However, only players below or tied with the 5th Low Net player overall will receive points. For example, if the Low Net player is at net 68 and the next 4 players tie at net 69, these would be the only players receiving points. The Net 68 player gets 7 points with Net 69 players receiving 3 points each. No other players receive points that month.

    • For the last tournament in November, awarded point totals will be doubled for each placement.

    • Please note the more tournaments you play in, it will give you more opportunities to accumulate points.

    • We will continue the $5.00 Closest to the Pin prize fund for each event.

    • In any given tournament for scoring purposes, any player that cannot finish a hole will be given a score for that hole that equals 2 times the maximum allowed for his/her given handicap.

    • Individual standings will be made available before every tournament.
