"Drive After Five"

Ryder Cup VI

Unexpectedly, this newsletter arrives just in time for the next edition of Ronin Ryder Cup. To cut to the chase, Orange County won to retake the Cup. OC closed out LA early on Day 3 to post the third career title for the Orange. As it stands now, OC leads 3 wins to two for LA. So we buckle up and prepare for the road to the Sixth version of this competition.

The venue remains Las Vegas. The three courses selected for play this year are the Wolf course at Paiute Resort, Angel Park and Rio Secco. Thanks to some fine maneuvering by Norm, we were able to play at a reasonable price for these premier locations. More info on the courses will be posted shortly on the website. Would it be too much to ask for favorable weather conditions again?? For those not on our agenda, Ryder 6 is scheduled to begin June 22, 2002.

OC will want to reach the necessary 25 points to hold the Cup while LA is looking for 25 1/2 points. OC will be led by Lance and look for the first back-to-back titles. LA counters with Harlan and is looking to restore the winning attitude for the Blue Boys.

Again, we will have 20 players forming the competition. Ryder Rookies are Reid Hokama for LA and Glenn Kawakami for OC. Both are skilled players and should help both sides. They replace Wade Tanaka and Randy Murai, who depart for various reasons.

As always, the competition will be fierce and friendly. It will be good to see all of us together again determining who the real champs are for this year. Depending on who wins, we may move on to different teams with different rivals.
