Carl Kingston was born in Hull on 21st April 1955 and spent his school days in Hornsea. He started out his own mobile disco at the age of 16 and over the years has worked worldwide in Switzerland, Germany, Norway, Denmark and the USA.
His broadcasting career started in 1974 at BBC Radio Humberside and he has since worked for Radio Caroline and Viking Radio, amongst many other stations before joining Radio Aire in 1985.
During his time at Aire, he mainly presented the Evening Show and he continued to present Evenings after the station split in 1990. Together with Mickey Laing, he was also the host of many Radio Aire Soul Connection Nights.

By the mid 90’s he moved over to Magic 828 to present the Evening Show, although he was still presenting some shows on Radio Aire into the early 2000's. He continued at Magic 828 until 2009, later presenting Sunday Breakfast and covering holiday.
Carl then moved to Switzerland where he was resident DJ at various venues, after spending 23 years at Aire and Magic. He was the longest serving presenter in Radio Aire and Magic 828's history.
Carl continued to present regular shows on radio stations around the world, including Leeds dance station LDCRadio.
On 7th September 2024, to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of Radio Caroline, he was part of a special broadcast from the Ross Revenge. The ship was anchored in the Blackwater Estuary.
Carl sadly passed away a few days later, whilst he had returned to Leeds to visit family and friends. He died on 11th September 2024 at the age of 69, following a short illness.
