Maher Hall

About Maher Hall

Maher Hall started as a seminary for the San Diego Diocese. The building structure of 110,000 gross square feet rises four stories over a partial basement which daylights on the northern elevation. The effective five stories of elevation allow the structure to take full advantage not only of plateresque detail, but also of arched colonnades and the juxtaposition of vertical planes, which produces a strong three-dimensional quality. The top three stories are dormitories. The bottom two house the departments of Anthropology, Banquets and Catering, Graduate Admissions, Human resources, Information Systems, Institutional Design, Media Services, Public Relations, Sponsored Programs, Theological and Religious Studies, and the Solomon Lecture Hall (where we will have our QTUG sessions).

The Maher Hall residence hall area is located on the top three floors of this five story building. All rooms have wall-to-wall carpeting. Each residence room has its own bathroom including sink, toilet, and shower. Each resident is provided with a extra long twin bed, chest of drawers, desk and desk chair. Most residence rooms are entered from the outside balconies and some rooms have splendid views of Mission Bay, Tecolote Canyon, or the fountain in front of Maher. A TV lounge and a study lounge are both located on the fifth floor. The University Alcohol Policy designates Maher Hall as a no alcohol living area regardless of age.
