Tamika Gilreath, Ph.D.

Tamika D. Gilreath obtained her Ph.D. in Biobehavioral Health with a minor in Applied Statistics from The Pennsylvania State University. She has received substantial training in the use of advanced multivariate statistical methods across substantive areas with a focus on latent variable modeling.

Dr. Gilreath’s primary research interests include health disparities and patterns of co-morbidity of substance use and poor mental health among African American youth, as well as international tobacco consumption among adolescents in sub-Saharan Africa. Dr. Gilreath has worked on several projects related to substance use including biomedical studies of smoking patterns and performing secondary data analyses of the correlates of smoking among African American youth and adult samples. Dr. Gilreath has also co-authored several peer-reviewed articles, and presented at national conferences regarding these topics. She recently completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Psychiatry, Division of Prevention and Community Research, Yale University School of Medicine. Dr. Gilreath is currently an Assistant Professor of Social Work at the University of Southern California.
