Shrine of Scorpio

The Shrine of Scorpio is located on the eastern wall of the Chapel of the Well to one side of the Well of Brigid. This chapel is dedicated to the element of water. Olivia writes that the zodiac shrines are corresponded to rites found in the FOI liturgy book "Sophia, Cosmic Consciousness of the Goddess." The ritual "Mystical Awakening of Scorpio and Kundalini" from "Sophia" is associated with this shrine.

In this photo you can see how this shrine sets into an alcove.

The wooden frieze behind it was carved by William Morris.

An early version of this shrine. You can see in the photo to the left, the flight of stairs

leading to the temple from the castle interior - just beyond the iron grate.
