The René Herse cranks are a modern classic. Conceived in 1938, they remain unsurpassed in their efficiency. The small 70 mm bolt circle allows you to use any chainring combination from 24 teeth upward. The minimalist design with three arms makes this one of the lightest cranks ever made, yet the chainrings are well-supported, and standard chainring bolts are used.
Made in Taiwan. 10 year warranty
(42 to 52) X (24 to 44)
So you can do:
Large ring = 50, 48, 46, 44
Small ring = 30, 28, 26, 24
Road front derailleurs typically have a 16T maximum difference. So the following would be possible: 48/32; 46/30; 44/28
We redesigned the classic Herse cranks with slightly slanting arms for increased ankle clearance and to use a shorter bottom bracket spindle (JIS 110-112 mm for doubles). The cranks use a standard extractor thread and standard chainring bolts. The pedal threads are standard BSC. The cranks are compatible with modern 10-speed drivetrains, as well as classic 5- to 9-speed drivetrains.
Important: To shift the René Herse triple cranks, use a “double” front derailleur, such as the Shimano CX-70. Triple front derailleurs have stepped cages that work only with specific chainring combinations.
René Herse crank bolts and pedal washers are included. Free choice of chainrings (teeth):
