Complementary and Alternative Medicine

Conventional western medicine is what most of us experience at a modern hospital or doctors office. it includes expensive imaging and treatment technologies, drugs from the pharmaceutical industry, and practices that are scientifically based. Many people are interested in Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM). CAM includes alternative medical systems (such as Chinese and Ayurvedic), mind-body interventions (such as meditation and yoga, biologically based methods (such as medicinal herbs and nutritional supplements), manipulative and body-based methods (such as chiropractic), and energy therapies. This is field of medicine is not as widely studied or validated as conventional medicine, yet millions of people around the world use some of these methods.
