Chamomile Story

Throughout history, people believed that chamomile could cure anything! The ancient Greeks called chamomile the ‘ground apple’ because of its scent and according to the Anglo-Saxons, it was one of the nine sacred herbs given to the world by God. In the 10th century chamomile was often worn as an amulet to ward off the ‘evil eye’! In 1551, chamomile was recommended as, “very agreeing unto the nature of man, and is good against weariness.” Chamomile has even been celebrated in poetry in Thomas Moore’s, ‘Wreaths for the Ministers’,“How the Doctor’s brow should smile, crowned with wreaths of chamomile!”And, of course, what did Mother Rabbit administer to naughty Peter after he caught cold in Farmer MacGregor’s garden? Chamomile tea!
