Serengeti

The Serengeti was released in September 2017. The big selling point here is mixed-species exhibits; basically any African animals can go in there together.

Breeding

Before unlocking the Serengeti, you gotta breed 25 each of:

- Black Rhinos

- Warthogs

And release 25 each of:

- Flamingos

- Elephants

You can pay some ungodly amount of diamonds to skip that. (300 I think?) It's taking me a couple months to do the breeding.

Unlocking

It'll cost 165 diamonds or 35 mil to unlock the zoo once you have your breeding done.

Clearing

As with the Love Zoo, there's a bunch of bullshit all over the place to clear out.

Here's the breakdown:

You'll notice that there's only one kind of obstacle that requires diamonds, so the minimum diamond cost to clear this zoo is 24 - that's opposed to 70 for the love zoo. Much better!

But it's gonna cost you to do it without diamonds, right? To be precise, it's going to cost about 6 million and take you about 17 days - that's if your timing is just amazing, so it's more like a month in real life.

New and exciting stuff

There's all new enclosure items and decorations, plus outside decorations and a new shop, all for the Serengeti exclusively. Pro tip: if you go into the shop and search for "serengeti" you'll find a lot of it. Here's a list I compiled of most or all of the stuff.

The above table is copied from the spreadsheet, which has a little more info.

More on that mixed exhibit stuff

You can trade for the giant Serengeti pen and you might want to start now because there are 12 pieces and it costs 50 diamonds. You'll be able to fit, what, like...12 expansions onto that? If you leave no space at all outside an exhibit.

When you mouse over a wall of an exhibit, it'll tell you how many spaces are available to you. (Look up top for an example: you'll see that I have 324 spaces, that's all exhibit all the time, with 14 free spaces.) You can refer to the spreadsheet to see how many spaces each animal needs. Zebras need 6, for example; giraffes need a painful 18.

There doesn't appear to be a ceiling on the number of animals you can have in there, or on the number of mixed species. You can see I've got something like 18 different species; there are 37 animals. There's no apparent limit on decorations or anything.

Note that there's no path in my serengeti, right? Do not put a path down! If you put a path down, you won't be able to pick it up again.

The habitation and watering place will only go in breeding pens, not in the real ones, so there's no way for you to get a nice watering hole into your normal pen. I know, your warthogs are super bummed.
