Restrooms

Overview
Restrooms provide your zoo's visitors with a place to, well, do their business.
The vast majority of restrooms are found in the Shop menu by clicking on the Buildings and Special Places tab, then selecting the Miscellaneous sub-tab. Garbage containers are also found in this location. Shop restrooms are considered standard restrooms.
Unique restrooms may also be made available from time to time, acquired through participation in campaigns. Unique restrooms are unavailable for purchase once the campaign from which they were acquired has ended.
Like shops all restrooms have a build timer, ranging from 20 minutes to several hours. Fully constructed restrooms can be moved within the zoo and rotated, but if the restroom is returned to inventory the build-timer will be reset.
Once fully constructed restrooms begin to generate revenue in the form of Zoo Dollars (ZD). Note that restroom revenue is completely independent from shop revenue. Lower level, inexpensive restrooms generate revenue fairly slowly, but can be built relatively quickly. Higher level restrooms take several hours to build and take up more space than lower level versions, but produce considerably more income.
Visitors will develop a restroom thought-bubble if there are insufficient restrooms in the zoo.Unlike containers, there do not seem to be any visitor consequences to having very few or even no restrooms, other than visitor thought-bubbles. Restrooms do not need to be near a path to be utilized by visitors.
My Free Zoo visitors seem to like having plenty of restrooms around; a zoo can quickly become cluttered with restrooms if trying to eliminate thought-bubbles. This issue was significantly alleviated with the addition of the Restroom House, in which restrooms can be stored to free up space in the zoo.
Restrooms are fairly unique in My Free Zoo in that there are no trading cards available for any of them, which means the only way to acquire certain restrooms is to spend Diamonds (D).
Revenue
As with shops income is distributed among all restrooms, but again they are a separate revenue chain so it is beneficial to have restrooms in the zoo for income in addition to shops.
Also like shops, restrooms have a maximum revenue capacity which, once reached, prevents the restroom from collecting additional Zoo Dollars. The speed with which restrooms collect Zoo Dollars depends primarily on the number of visitors in the zoo, and to a lesser extent on the quality of the restroom; high level restrooms will generate more income than low level counterparts.
When revenue is at or very near capacity a collection bubble will appear over it, which can be clicked to empty the restroom. Revenue may be collected at any time by clicking on the restroom and then clicking on the collect icon, even if the restroom is not near maximum capacity. Restroom revenue can be automatically collected by the Treasurer employee once a collection bubble appears, provided the restroom is within 4 fields of a path.
The speed with which restrooms reach maximum capacity can be controlled by adding or removing restrooms from the zoo; the more restrooms are in the zoo the slower they will reach capacity, because income is distributed among all restrooms.
Strategy tip
Look, the little restrooms are lame and the big restrooms take up too much room - they're super awkward to place - so the medium restrooms are where your money is at. And of those, the Deluxe Red is your best moneymaker. Focus on Deluxe Reds.
