Oct 17: TEXT BOOK on Industrialization pgs. 632-637, how did these changes revolutionize or radically change life? If you were absent today, you need to make-up activity. (graded for 10 points instead of last night’s homework). (agricultural Revolution)

Oct 18: Read text book pages 647-653 Describe the following names/terms: laissez faire, Adam Smith, capitalism, Karl Marx, communism, unions, Reform Laws

Oct 19 &20: Read page 29 in the PACKET; Adam Smith, The Wealth of Nations and pg. 30-31, Samuel, Smiles Self-Help and Thrift. Summarize Adam Smith’s theory. To what extent do you agree or disagree with each theorist? Why? Explain? If you were absent, you missed the factory simulation and need to write a one page essay/summary of the text reading 638-642 describing the content in the voice of a child factory worker.

Oct 21: Read in the PACKET; Karl Marx & Fredrich Engels, Communist Manifesto pgs. 32-35 Take notes on the reading and list 5 questions on things that you have questions about (or copy 5 interesting quotes). If you were absent today, you need to turn in the answers to these in class questions or you need to define Laissez faire and Invisible Hand (graded @ 5 points).

Oct 24th : Finish last reading the PACKET; Karl Marx & Fredrich Engels, Communist Manifesto pgs. 35-38 Write 5 questions or copy 5 interesting quotes (required homework). Be able to answer questions at end of reading (optional). Begin your trial work.

Oct 25 & 26: TEXTBOOK pages 638-642 plus “worldwide impact of industrialization” on page 646. Describe how Industrialization Changed Ways of Life in your notes and predict how your character would respond to the changes you read about? What social class is your character from? What beliefs does your character hold about industrialzation? What would he or she say? (IF you were absent today, you need to find out what your role for the trial will be; we assigned them today.)

On Oct 28th (no School) Read the TRIAL PACKET. Highlight or underline anything you need to know or do for the trial. Begin work on your role for the trial. Consider what your character would say in a witness statement and how the 4 charges pertain to you.

The trial preparation will continue to take place this week, your homework will be to work on whatever you need to do for the trial.

If all goes as planned, the trial should start tomorrow or Friday. Defense Witnesses should be ready to go. You are expected to come dressed in character! You should come with your costume/props every day of the trial (in case you are called early).
