We will watch the entire film, Schindler's List April 27-May 1

April : Read the introduction and article, “Shared Roots in Ancient Time” in new packet. Write one paragraph each describing the history of the Jewish (1 paragraph) and Muslim (1 paragraph) claim to the land. (You could also set this up as a "T" chart.) Read articles in new packet “Zionism and Arab Nationalism” pg 5-6 Write a one-paragraph response from the perspective of both the Jews and the Muslims. (read page 1, skip the timeline on page 2, then read pages 3-6.)

** Your Africa Unit homework CALENDAR was due last class! Also, you need to turn in the Socratic Seminar questions if you haven’t already.

April : Create your own timeline of the historical events of the Middle East conflict from 2 points of view. Use information from packet page 2, textbook: Page 901-905 – all major events. Be sure to include UN Resolutions 194 and 242 in your assignment/notes. Add to your vocabulary list.

This will be important to understanding the conflict in the Middle East. Get "Never Again" notes from a classmate from the other activities today.

April & May : Read from the packet, “The Endless Wars.” (Be sure to include the 1967 or “Six Day War” in your response.) Put yourself in the shoes of an Israeli and then that of an Arab/Muslim. How would you react to the wars if you were Israeli? How would you react if you were Arab/Muslim? Write 1 paragraph from each perspective.
