Sept. : read Era Overview and complete take notes, be sure to note cause/effect/predictions/questions

Sept : In class we did an introduction to several different revolutions and discussed the theme of change.If absent, look at introduction to revolutions PowerPoint and complete intro to revolutions handout that corresponds to four image sets at end of PowerPoint (attached). New Packet and new Unit Vocabulary (attached). Last class homework was to read Era Overview and complete take notes, be sure to note cause/effect/predictions/questions. Read text book pages 551-552 and 555-556 take notes on the Enlightenment.

Sept : The Enlightenment Powerpoints attached. You need to understand the Enlightenment ideals to prepare for your role in the Philosopher’s Round Table Seminar. You must write an introduction to your character and be prepared to answer the questions from the Philosopher’s Seminar. (Questions attached, below) If you were absent today, see me for a role.

Oct : Seminar today: speed dating format (20 questions attached, below). If you were absent today please respond to the following question: “How did Enlightenment thinkers change our way of thinking?” and turn in written make up for the Philosopher's Seminar HOMEWORK: Read pgs. 5-10 in the Packet, “The declaration of Rights of Man and the Citizen” and “Declaration of the Rights of Women”. Copy #2 (from both) and put in your own words.

Oct : Lecture on 3 Estates and reading of Declaration of the Rights of Man and Women. Fill out chart for note taking on the French Revolution. Homework: Choice between Text book 572-583 OR Read and take Cornell Notes on pgs 10-19 in the Packet on Revolutionary France, “1. Conditions in France” skip “2. Philopsophers and their Influence” read “3.The First Revolution” Notes on the 3 Estates attached. Oct : Lesson today: The Reign of Terror, A day classes meet in the Library. Potential for a Partner Quiz on the events today. Homework: Read the Packet Levy en Masse, pg. 24 and Republic of Virtue, pg. 25-26 and then answer: what is each of these documents about? The Republic of Virtue today.

Oct : Assign trial roles and discuss trial assessment, introduction to Industrial Revolution. Homework is Read pgs. 27-28 in the Packet, “The Feudal System and the Enclosure Movement” Answer: How did the Enclosure Acts lead to an economic revolution? What was the Agricultural Revolution and how what changes came from it?Answer these two questions: What was the Agricultural Revolution and what changed?

Oct : If you were absent today, you will need to make up the Agricultural Revolution lesson & quiz on Skyward. Homework: Read page 29 in the PACKET; Adam Smith, The Wealth of Nations and pg. 30-31, Samuel, Smiles Self-Help and Thrift. You need to describe Laissez Faire and the "Invisible Hand" in your own words.

Oct : Airplane simulation today in class! Be sure you turn in your reflection (stamped)! If you were absent, you missed the factory simulation and need to write a one page essay/summary of the text reading 638-642 describing the content in the voice of a child factory worker. Homework: Read text book pages 647-653. Describe the following names/terms: laissez faire, Adam Smith, capitalism, Karl Marx, communism, unions.

Oct : In class, lecture and video about Communism. Read packet pages 32-34 and then answer this question: Do you agree with Marx that the history of all “existing society is the history of class struggles”? Why or why not? Read Pg 36 and 38 in packet and answer : What are the main goals of the Communist Revolution?

Defense & Prosecution research your role. Attorneys and judges objections quiz. Attorneys: come up with a list of questions for you witnesses and cross-examiners, develop an approach to the charges. We will work on this in the computer lab.

Homework: Everyone, text book pages 647-653. Describe the following names/terms: laissez faire, Adam Smith, capitalism, Karl Marx, communism, unions.

Oct Prepare for you role in the trial, re-write your witness statement if needed: be sure that you directly address all four of the charges! Final Witness statements Submit to OneNote. due Wednesday Oct at 8: 30 am for final grading. ( Prepare for you role in the trial, costumes, practice questions, etc.)

Attorneys: come up with a list of questions for you witnesses and cross-examinees, develop an approach to the charges. Judges: set up appointments for physical evidence and complete rulings on evidence you will allow in the trial. Attorneys meet with your "Triads." Attorneys provide the order you will be calling your witnesses to the judge. You can post it in our shared folder, but let us know you did it!

Oct : attorney opening, closing, and strategy outlines due today. Attorneys: Have the questions you will ask witnesses- to be checked in class, know the order to call your witnesses, this information should be in your case strategy outline which is due today for attorneys. Witnesses, you need to complete your cross examination meetings for your opposing witnesses today. Complete the worksheet, get credit from me, then give it to your attorney. Judges: Collect witness worksheets for credit and review witness statements for your familiarity.

The trial starts part-way through the period today. Opening statements are today! Prosecution Witnesses should be ready to go. You are expected to come dressed in character! You should come with your costume/props every day of the trial (in case you are called early).

Attorneys: Any ONE of the following: 1. opening statement, 2. strategy (describing how you structured the case around the four charges), cross-examination strategy, or 3. closing statement.
