3/10: Today we introduced the concept of human rights, read the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights, (omitted due to time and created a Found Poem from the document).Homework is to begin defining new vocabulary for unit. We took the human rights "temperature" of our school today and ranked different human rights based on individual perspective. Homework: Read first three pages of Half the Sky (in packet 3-5). 3/22 & 3/23 Mini debate on legalization of prostitution. Homework: Read two newspapers articles at the end of your packet and answer: how do these articles reflect different public perceptions of prostitution and trafficking?

3/24: Review homework and final assessment requirements. Draft of final project due today. Homework: Post online for current events & work on final project

We continued our study of human trafficking and prostitution and read more of the Economist article. Read editorials from The Economist and packet. Complete paragraph in "they said, I said" format. Watch film "Not my Life". We also watched clips from Not My Life. Homework: Finish reading letters to the editor and consider which option you want for your final project.

so ignore this Today’s lesson was on economic rights and empowerment, poverty, and slavery. We tried to create a budget on $2 a day (as more than half the world does) and discussed gender economic inequality. We also mapped slavery in the world today in small groups. See attached PowerPoint (Human Rights/ Slavery) if absent.
