April 16&17: Read in new packet, "Freedom in Our Lifetime: South Africa's Struggle" pages 8-15 and complete the study guide part II.

April 16&17: In ClassRead in packet, page 16, "June 1961 the Moment of Decision" and page 17 the options in brief. You will be assigned either to an option group (fill out the Options Preparation worksheet) or as a resident of South Africa, pages TRB 20-22 (fill out a Citizens response worksheet). Prepare for an in-class role play, "Should we use violence to fight Apartheid?" Homework is to read the Epilogue in the packet, 27-32. Take notes on the seminar question sheet.

April 18&19: Complete role play as needed and Read “Burying South Africa’s Past: Of memory and forgiveness” in the NEW packet, Cornell notes. Know what the TRC (Truth and Reconciliation Commission) is and take notes on the seminar question sheet & vocab sheet. (There is a quiz: answer the following questions: 1. What was the TRC? Where was it? Why did they have it?).

April 24&25: In class introduction “Five things everyone should know” class notes. Apartheid Laws in class today. Homework: Read text book 918-920 take notes on the seminar question sheet, include names, events, terms, & add to your vocabulary list.

April 26&27: Film today: “Long Night’s Journey Into Day” take notes about the cases in the film. Homework Read in NEW Packet: From No Future without Forgiveness Take notes by selecting three- five main points or moral arguments, copy the quotes down using MLA format citations. (10 pts) Add your reaction/ reflections in preparation for the Socratic Seminar. Study for vocabulary quiz on Monday/Tuesday. Here is a link to quizlet.
