As we begin the spring semester we are studying the Renaissance! This amazing time began with the rise of a new middle class in Italy. Families such as the Medici used their new wealth to bring about a "rebirth" of ancient Greek and Roman ideas. The Medici knew the importance of art and culture to a strong civilization and hired the best architects, artists, and other great minds to transform their beloved city of Florence into the center of this new age.
