Printmakers creating TEXTURE COLLAGES

Post date: Aug 24, 2012 3:44:15 PM

Beginning printmaking techniques such as MONOTYPE and TEXTURE RUBBINGS are being used to create well thought-out collages based on the students Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, or Threats (S.W.O.T.). This multi-step project involved brainstorming, rough sketches, choice of a final idea, a completed mock-up of the idea, texture rubbings, and a completed collage integrating these elements. Through this assignment, students have become familiar with the basic elements and technical skills needed for printmaking such as reverse-image, positive and negative space, monotype printmaking, texture, incorporating text, and creating a visual image to communicate an idea.
