Vasilisa Skvortsova (PhD)

Current Research :

I started my PhD in 2011 under the supervision of Pr. Mathias Pessiglione and Pr. Hilke Plassmann.

My interestes lay in the field of reinforcement learning theories, effort and motivation continuing the work of Stefano Palminteri in the team. I study how people integrate rewards (e.g. money) and efforts (mental or physical) when making their decisions. Using computational modeling of behaviour and fMRI we are looking for the brain regions that are involved in reward and effort value computations and integration of both dimensions into a single choice.

I’m also interested in how valuation of objects and goods can be affected by second-order factors such as price and the fact that you have to pay for them.

Former education :

I received my BA in Neuropsychology and Pathopsychology from Lomonosov Moscow State University and MA in Cognitive Psychology from New York University. I worked with Katherine Duncan on the encoding and retrieval of episodic memory events in the lab of Pr. Lila Davachi.
