Irma completed her psychology degree in Universitas Indonesia and University of Queensland (Australia). Despite the all-year-round sunny weather, she left the southern hemisphere to do an MSc at Oxford University in 2006 where she worked with Matthew Rushworth and Mark Walton on effort-based decision making. During her doctoral work at University College London with Nick Chater and Ray Dolan, she continued her fascination for decision neuroscience and effort. After a one year postdoc with Mathias Pessiglione she went to Singapore to work with Michael Chee on the impacts of sleep deprivation on memory and decision making. She is now back at the MBB lab to work with Mathias Pessiglione on the biological mechanisms of cognitive fatigue on decison making. She is happy to be back in the continent.

In her spare time she plays basketball and tennis, and dances swing and salsa. She hopes to keep playing tennis until she is 80 years old.
