Twitter, Edmodo and WebEx are three great resources we used in our class. They are all great resources for teachers to use. While personally I know I won't be using twitter at the elementary school level, it would be a great resources for high school teachers to keep up with their students and for their students to get little reminders about homework and tests. I can see twitter being a great educational tool in the future for high school and college students. It might be a little while longer before this kind of technology is made appropriate at the elementary school level.
Edmodo was a great teaching tool. It's like a combination of blackboard and facebook. I think it's a wonderful tool for teachers to have different class sections and it's a great way to keep your students updated on what's going on in class. I liked the easy way to turn in assignments. It wasn't hard to do, and the grades were easy to find. It wasn't hard to figure out what was due when either. And this summer I took two classes that used edmodo. I had absolutely no difficulty figuring out how to add both to the same account. I loved how simple and helpful this website was. I don't think I'll be using it at the elementary school level but if I was teaching at the high school or college level I would definitely use edmodo.
WebEx was a new experience for me this summer. I had assumed we would be using skype, a similar way of meeting online, and was surprised we used WebEx. But it proved to be a great program for online meetings. We were all able to meet and watch what we were supposed to be doing for our projects. It was simple to use and didn't require us to download any software which was nice. Once again, I can't see myself ever using this at the elementary school level because I won't ever really be seeing students outside of class that I couldn't help them in person. But it's a great tool for an online class.
