In the fall of 2012 my Instructional Technology course had me bring back out my blogger from my previous technology classes. The power of the written word is so great and to add graphics and links to other webpages is phenomenal. I've truly learned just how important blogging is for teachers this semester. I'm so excited to have my blog to use for my classroom one day. It will be a great way to keep parents informed. It's much easier to go online these days than to send home a bunch of handouts. This way nothing ever gets lost. It's so easy to use! All you need to do is pick a blog title and create a new post. It's extremely user friendly and integrating pictures as well as linking to other websites is fabulously simple. I had the opportunity this semester to use an iPad with my technology course. From there we researched ways to use it in the classroom. This was one of our blog topics and it was a great way to introduce iPads. I'd never used one before and now I know I'll be using it in my classroom if I can.
I've also started to think about how I could use blogger not only to keep parents informed but to use it in the classroom! I hope to teach fourth grade and at this age, I can start using blogger with my students. I can use this to teach how to write informatively. I personally think blogger would be a great presentation tool for projects outside of just language arts. If students were to research for other subjects, they could present their findings in their own blogger! It would be a much more informative tool than just a powerpoint. It would also be a great way to to integrate technology into the classroom!
I'm proud to have been able to blog about my class and what I've learned!
