For one of my lessons in my Electronic Evidence 3, I got to use a new kind of technology. I worked with QR codes. These codes have been extremely interesting to me for a long time. I never knew just how simple it was to make them. I simply searched "QR code generator" and was faced with dozens of websites that I could use to generate my own QR code. I decided to use one that I thought was the simplest of the ones that I'd found. From there, I easily copied the web address of the page I wanted to use, and I had my own QR code in seconds!
My unit was for a kindergarten classroom with an overall topic of "change." This meant that I taught quite a few different concepts. One of these, was change in the seasons. In my lesson, my students are using iPads to do a Glogster webquest. In this webquest, they are learning about different seasons, addressing the social studies North Carolina essential standard K.H.1.2. Explain how seasons change over time. I would have split my class into four groups. These groups each would get an iPad and two QR codes. The first QR code would take them to the opening page, and the second would take them to the page on their season. It was a very simple way to integrate the QR codes, but as this would be the first time my students would be using the iPads, I thought it would make a simple, yet useful introduction to future use! This lesson would address technology North Carolina essential standard K.TT.1.1. Use a variety of technology tools to gather data and information (eg. Web-based resources, e-books, online communication tools, etc.).
