For our rubric project we used Microsoft Excel which is extremely easy to use thanks to all the other projects we've used excel for this class. We had to create criteria to on which to score our students for a project we had to come up with. We created different categories that we would use to score our students. We had to have the categories Accomplished worth three points, Proficient worth two points, and Developing worth one point. And we had to have descriptions for each category. This way we had a good and fair way to grade our students, and the students know what is required of them to make the highest grade possible.
I had the most trouble writing the descriptions for the rubric. I had to make sure every
possible detail was covered. I can definitely see myself using this program to make rubrics when I am teaching. They're a great tool so that students know what is expected of them and so teachers can easily grade their students. Using Excel also helps because you can auto sum your figures and not have to take the time to add them yourself. In our rubrics that wouldn't be a problem, but if you had more categories, this would be a large advantage.
