As part of my work I take science in to schools in the UK and elsewhere as often as I can
Students love getting the chance to meet and talk with a research scientist, it enriches their science curriculum and it helps to reconnect the academic world with the community. I also bring workshops, games, and hands-on activities in to get everyone involved.
The lovely guys at Mounts Bay Academy featured my visit in their school newsletter. This was my third visit, gave three workshops, and it was a really positive experience!
Press coverage from a very successful visit to Newton Abbot College (Torquay Herald Express). Details on the school website here.
The Reach Academy, part of Exeter College. Really look forward to my trips here.
Cheltenham for the Science Festival included The Brain Game as part of their Schools Program
It is a real privilege to help out with curriculum enrichment for science in primary schools. Just two of the many visits I have made recently here. Kelly College in Tavistock, and St Issey C of E in Cornwall.
Newquay Tretherras is a very lively and interesting place and very welcoming. Looking forward to getting back there soon.
Always fun at British Science Week (previously known as NSEW) when I get to talk about all sorts of things and indulge my fascination with astronomy. This talk was part of the University of Plymouth NSEW programme in 2011.
Not strictly a school event - but when the BBC brought BGTT to Plymouth I was delighted to help out in the discovery tent and talk to loads of young budding scientists.
Researcher in Residence: I worked with Plymouth High School for Girls as 'Researcher in Residence' a scheme sponsored by the RCUK and The Wellcome Trust. Sadly no pictures and now finished. Ah Well!
