Formatting markup in bibliography entries

This is covered in one of my 'minimal examples' which you can download from this site.

BibTeX (and hence Jabref) allows the direct entry of LaTeX in bibliographic entries. The bibliographic style will not usually overwrite formatting you have added – this goes for capitalization too if you put it in curly braces.

Have a close look at the article title of the following example. Note the italic formatting and extra curly braces in the title line. You can edit this directly in the .bib file with a text editor or (best option) in JabRef.

@ARTICLE{CoathNice09,

author = {M. Coath and B. Nice and C. Sharp and A. N. Other},

title = {Clinical depression in the {T}awney {M}ining {B}ee

(\textit{{A}ndrena fulva}) - a case for lawn enrichment?},

journal = {Nat. J. Pointless Drivel},

year = {2009},

volume = {1},

pages = {23--87},

}
