A teaching and learning resource - Version 2

The minimals have gone down very well, about the most popular thing I have ever produced! The idea is simple.

Install MikTeX and TeXstudio (see here) and learn some basic LaTeX
Download and unzip the directory of files attached to this page in a working directory
The Minimals are a set of very short .tex files that each illustrate one particular idea

This is not a course of study, or a manual, or a workbook. It is a cut-and-paste guide to the most useful packages and their most frequently used options. Each is pre-compliled so the resulting pdfs are also in the directory. Some are basic but the set also contains some quite tricky examples, so not all of it is suitable for beginners.

Version 2 notes

Version 2 has files designated by letters rather than numbers, for those of you (hundreds!) that have downloaded the first version, the old minimals correspond to files with letters a_ to o_ in the new versions and the new examples are from p_ to u_ .

Some of the old numbered examples have been updated so you can dump the ones you have and use these instead.

These examples have only been tested with MikTeX (they were created using 2.9) and TeXstudio using pdflatex. However they should work with a wide range of setups, OSes, editors, distributions etc.
