A total of 1,427 birds were entered at the UK's premier Fife show, with over 1,000 champion birds in some of the biggest classes you'll see anywhere, almost 380 Novice birds were benched and for the second successive year a novice bird took the top award of best Fife in show, a lovely self green yellow cock benched by D Kinder.

Some superb birds were benched in the champion section, with a range of top exhibits not making the top seven in their classes M Bell won best clear with a clear yellow cock (pictured below), a bird that won it's class of 53 before beating 175 other top clear birds to take best champion clear. The C & G Vaughan partnership won 3 of the 4 ticked to lightly variegated classes and went on to take the colour special (pictured centre bottom, back in it's shed). with Junner & Wood taking the best variegated special (pictured below)

D Kinders Best Novice and Best in show taking the top award over Gerald Spencers Best Champion Fife

B Mc Donagh took the best Champion Heavily variegated (pictured below left) but the Champion section was once again dominated by Gerald Spencer who, in addition to taking best Champion Fife with a variegated cinnamon yellow hen won the Cinnamon colour special, the champion Allied to white special (with a blue cock pictured below right), the Best Foul special and the best Champion Green special (pictured below centre) completing a hugely successful day and once again proving those who are quick to write him off that he still has one of the top show teams of Fifes in the UK.

My own show team faired well with almost half of those entered in the cards in some sizeable classes, the highlights for me would be my hatrick of 2nds in the Variegated and Heavily Variegated Buff hen classes where my birds competed against 45 and 42 birds respectively and my Heavily variegated yellow cock that was 2nd in a class of 46. Also worth a mention was my Self green yellow cock 6 in a class of 41 and my varigated buff cock 5 in a class of 34, both birds were out on the bench for the first time.

No one Novice dominated the section, D Kinders best in show took the best novice and green special, T Hague won best variegated (pictrued above) with T Campbell and R Fyfe both picking up a couple of colour specials each. The Herd & Summerville partnership who are once again having a good show season won best champion clear and George Curry completed the line up winning best Novice Foul. A special mention to John Evans of Bootle, Liverpool who in only his second show in his first season benched his first class win with a variegated white hen and 2 2nds.
