Monday 6

A whistle stop tour of the North Devon coast over Saturday evening / Sunday, great to catch up with my cousins and see my Auntie and, for the first time in my 10 years exhibiting, to take in the Cornwall & Devon Fife Fancy Canary Club annual show. After an almost 600 mile round trip it was lovely to come away with 6 class wins, including variegated buff hen and cock, heavily variegated yellow cock and buff hen, self green yellow hen and variegated white cock. I also took the champion colour special for best heavily variegated, so all in all quite pleasing.

I returned late last night - so didn't return the birds to their cages until this morning, it will be another first for me this weekend as i'll be showing at West Wales Fife Fancy Canary club for the first time. It will more than likely be my last show of the season and my good friends the C & G Vaughan partnership will take a small team of 6 down for me. I put the other 8 birds that i showed yesterday in to the flight cages to over winter - although the temperature was minus 4 outside and the lock to the birdroom frozen, they all enjoyed an early morning bathe.

Its been a very busy few days, on Friday I had the pleasure of the company of Paul Magri, his brother and a couple of friends. Paul has had birds from me for a few years now and had planned the trip earlier this year to come and see the birdroom. They'd left Malta with the temperature in the 20's and as it was minus 5 when the arrived on the friday in Liverpool i think they welcomed a hot coffee. It's always nice to meet up with fanciers from all over the world, and temperature aside i think they enjoyed their visit.
