A staggering 1,468 Fifes were entered at arguably one of the worlds biggest Fife shows, the North of England Fife Fancy Canary Club Show. The top award went to a cracking Heavily variegated buff hen benched by novice exhibitor J I Ross (pictured below), best champion was won by I Watsons clear buff hen.

The champion section attracted an enrty of 1,105 birds with many of the first 24 classes attracting large entries in excess of 40 birds, the heavily variegated yellow hen class saw an entry of 61 birds alone. I Watson took the top champion award with a clear buff hen bird, Smith & Evans took two top colour awards winning best ticked to lightly variegated with a nice yellow hen and the Self Green award with a quality Self green buff cock. Their achievement was matched by Tony Carline who's very good variegated yellow cock (pictured below) took the variegated special and a Variegated Cinnamon yellow hen took the cinnamon special. Dave Lumsden took the Heavily Variegated colour special with a tidy yellow hen, Gerald Spencers Foul Yellow Hen (picture below) and Gary Wilson Healivy Variegated Blue Hen (pictured below) completed the Champion Line up.

My own team faired okay with a 2, 3 and two sevenths, my team of whites did well and a lightly variegated buff hen also did well, once again the lighting at the show came under some stick (hence the poor quality of the photos) however it was a superb entry and a very well run show.

The Novice section attracted entries of 355, the top award, and best in Show went to J I Ross, the remaining colour specials were well split with George Curry taking a brace with Best Novice Clear (picture below) with a clear yellow hen and Best Cinnamon, with variegated cinnamon yellow hen, Georges achievement was matched by Graham Holdsworth who took the Best Foul, with a tidy Foul yellow hen, and Best Green, which he won with a self green buff hen (pictured below), and T Hague who took the best ticked to lightly variegated award and the Best Allied to White, with T Campbells Variegated Buff hen completing the Novice Colour Specials.
