Notes:

* St. George bird identified in hand by R. S. Palmer (written description not found); this occurrence followed passage of a hurricane, which has been the pattern for the very few August to September records in New England. Most records of this species are for spring (May-early June). All documented records (photos) in Maine are from spring.

There are other reports with poor or no details from Thomaston, Knox Co. (Aug & Sep 1960); Scarborough (Jul 1960), Old Orchard Beach, York Co. (Sep 1968). Another old report lacking details was published by Palmer (1949) as an "unconfirmed report" Sep 1933 at Old Orchard Beach, York Co.
