Several old records listed by Palmer (1949, pg. 183) in the late 1800s to early 1900s spanning dates from 8 August to 17 December and for Cumberland, Hancock, and Penobscot Cos.

Heard only reports and birds not described in detail might be listed best as King/Clapper Rail, the potential for hybrids existing and the differences between the species sometimes subtle. Some reports below might be Virginia Rails as well.
