* There are conflicting statements about the number of records/reports for Maine, with the bird in 1972 said to be the "third sight record" (per Davis Finch) but the bird in 1983 reported as "3rd satisfactory state record" (per Stu Tingley). Then for the "probable rather than certain" report in 1996, editor Jody Despres notes that he was aware of only 5 records in Maine, all since 1972, but there are earlier reports.
