The door closure mechanism on the door allowing for push button access has been replaced. We are still working on the online comment form.

Thanks.

Dear Sir,

This is the publisher of MaGaZiNe yEtU reminding you that we would enjoy having your official statement regarding the concerns of Mr. Hemphill and his experiences with the city public transportation system. Please be advised that the August issue will be printed soon and your statement is important to give the other side of the story we are covering. Mr. Longdon,

I was notified of your presence at our facility today by a supervisor that was returning from a bus switch. I looked through my e-mails intended for follow up and realized I had not responded to your inquiry and for that delay I want to sincerely apologize.

In response to the issues that you raised, we have addressed the situation with our ADA accessible entrance. The switch had been deactivated on the door closure when work was done in the entrance and we had forgotten to turn it back on. Maintenance responded after Curtis inquired about the door and pointed out the issue, resolving it right away.

Our complaint procedure usually involves recording our notes on a notepad and then transferring it to a complaint form so we can organize it once notes are finished being taken.

With regards to the securing of Mr. Hemphill's walker, our current policy calls for the passenger to secure their walker under the seat or next to them to make sure that the aisle is clear after sitting down after boarding the bus. Due to the lack of weight of the actual walker, we can not safely secure the walker in the same manner that we secure a person that utilizes a wheelchair. Once again, I apologize for the delay and you can feel free to contact me if you have any additional questions.

Okay Mr. O'Brien,

It is okay if I publish the text of your email today as your official response to the complaint by Leon? I will just leave it as you wrote it word for word and I will state that this is your official reply. I believe this will close your side of this news story. If not then let me know if there is anything else you would like our readers to know. Please remember I want to give you a full voice in this just as much as the passenger on your buses. Thanks for your reply and have a pleasant day.

Sure, that would be fine. Any particular time in mind? I am flexible. Just to make a recommendation if I may... would you be able to make complaint forms for passengers to fill out and submit? If so approximately how long might it take to develope? Also Leon has stated that he doesn't recall being advised to place his walker under the bus seat and to sit in the bus seat while riding I.C.T. the magazine would love it if you would be willing to brief the drivers to do this. That would be great sir. What day was the accessibility button on your front outside entrance reactivated? I was there on May 12th, 2011, when I first met with Mr. Brenton, and again on July 28, 2011, when I followed up with your office and I saw Mr. Brenton again. At that time he advised that the button had been looked at by maintainence and that they stated that the button worked but worked very slowly. I did quote that in an article of the magazine, but I also stated that Mr. Brenton could not give an offcial statement on any of the issues. I didn't want to misdirect the readers since I was told I had to get all official information from you. And the last thing is what if anything did the investigation into the claims of misconduct by drivers and Leon falling on a snow covered bus stop reveal? Well in speaking to me tommorrow you now know exactly what I will say so you have time to look into these issues and if you need more time let me know...

Sincerely,
