Dear Supporters of Community Racial Justice,

Please help spread the word about these upcoming community events supporting racial justice in our community:

1) Iowa City Ad Hoc Diversity Public Forum, Thursday, November 15, 6-8:00 p.m., Iowa City Public Library, Meeting Room A. The Iowa City Ad Hoc Diversity Committee is holding a “public information gathering session” to hear community concerns about local policing and transportation, in particular the experiences of people of color in our community with local law enforcement and transportation systems (e.g., bus routes). They are gathering information and recommendations for a report they plan to submit to the Iowa City, City Council in March 2013. Show up and let them hear your experiences and ideas! Or, if you want, just show up to bodies in the room to show the growing numbers of people in the community who care about racial justice, equity, and fairness.

2) The next Coalition for Racial Justice Community Meeting, held in partnership with the Family-to-Family Partnership, will be held Thursday, November 29, 6:00 p.m. dinner; meeting to follow, at The Spot, 1030 Crosspark Avenue, Iowa City. The focus of the conversation will be affordable housing, particularly as it affects families living in the Dolphin Lake Point complex, due to the City’s cancellation of the Housing Assistance contract there.

3) The Coalition for Racial Justice meeting will be Thursday, December 6, noon-1:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 500 N. Clinton Street, Iowa City.
