Casino Review: Blue Chip Spa & Resort IN

Blue Chip Casino, Spa & Resort in Michigan City Indiana

About 75 minutes from downtown Chicago (Heading East)

Just under an hour past the Horseshoe in Hammond IN sits the Blue Chip. I like the "Chip" for many reasons. The gaming is solid and the casino space is above average. Indiana has the same stupid Riverboat laws as Illinois, but the Blue Chip sits on a massive 65,000 SQFT barge.

Over 2,100 slot machines (In your face Illinois) and 50 table games. Add in two hotels, a nice indoor pool, 5 places to get some grub, a little shopping and a good Spa and it is a real resort.

The payback is among the highest in the state, which isn't saying much. That is like being the tallest midget. But 91.5% is doable.

The buffet is craptastic, but easy to earn with some play. The Deli is good, as are the other restaurants on property. You use your Boyd card here, B Connected, which means you will earn comps good across the US. That is a big plus if you are looking to invest in an upfront Vegas comp.

Their free play is solid, but their gifts are absolute dogshit. Think a screwdriver, some sheets or a flashlight.

Meet the "Chip"

Entrance to the casino, you would never know you just stepped foot onto a massive barge.

Nelson's Deli is very good, and their prices are reasonable. But be warned, the buffet here sucks so bad there is usually a line of people waiting to spend their meal comps on food that wont give them the shits.

The Stardust name lives on, even though it is now a sad convention hall and not a sad, dity outdated casino on the Vegas strip.

Some Fast facts on the property:

They do have an Event Center (Stardust) with seating for up to 1,200 people.

Exploring the neighborhood!

The best part of a trip to Blue Chip is the fact that you are not on an island.

The resort is right smack dab in the middle of a cute touristy area. Just steps away from a nice, clean, free beach.

5 minutes from a nice zoo, Washington Park Zoo.

And just over the bridge from a decent outdoor outlet mall, Lighthouse Outlet mall.
