Days 2 - Carlisle 2016

Lola and I have had a great weekend. First off, she won Celebrity Choice! Dennis Kohr (Kohr's Kustoms) stopped by Lola's spot on Saturday afternoon, asking for her backstory and if I had worked on it. He mentioned that he had spotted her on Thursday and was leaning towards her already but the fact that I had a great backstory and had worked on Lola myself seems to have sealed the deal.

I met a few of the other Young Gun boys and we ventured off to vote for our favorite cars. Upon returning to my car, Rachel DeBarros was not far off. As it turned out, she knew one of the boys I was walking around with and subsequently I got a photo!

Lastly, I competed in Daisy Duke once again.

This year, with more knowledge and experience under my belt, I managed to wave and pose without tripping and without walking too fast (and as a result, awkwardly walking in about five ovals in a row). It turns out my effort paid off, and I won $100 in cash for third place! That $100 is now in my wallet, slightly ripped, and waiting to be deposited into my bank account.

Saturday was also the day that we began preparing for the cross-country trip. Once Daisy Duke had ended, we took Lola out of the show field and brought her back to the house for packing. On the way back to the house she also got to stop for ice cream.

Dad's Post Script

Lisa and I were very excited for Shaelyn ..... and very proud.

Talked with Dennis Kohrs the celebrity judge that gave her an award. He said his wife is very supportive of him and he has two young sons (about Shaelyn's age). He wants to see more women into restoring cars so that his boys can have the same experience he has with his wife and family. Loved Shaelyn's car and told her one of his son's drag races a 4 dr Belevedere.

Was interesting to be sitting in the bleachers with Lisa at the Daisy Duke competition. She pointed out the guy behind us with binoculars that were about 18 inches long and another photographer with a huge wildlife lens.

Ran into Ronny (Slant Six Forum) while I was walking around the swap meet. He put me on to a "new old stock" Sure Grip rear end he had spotted.

Finished the day by taking Lola over to the house, putting the roof rack and rocket box on .... and stopping at Massies for a milkshake.
