This morning we have finished off taking the dispersion measurement at the foil data using the equivalent momentum method. We now need to analyse this data to confirm that it is sufficient and we are happy with it.
Before lunch we also discussed the measurement of the dispersion at the position of the slit (near Q6) as Shinji suggested over email. If we make this the 'matching point' this would allow us to have a D measurement both here and at the foil or in the ring, which should help our understanding of the experiment vs models. We will discuss this further & then I will update on the method and proposed plan. We may need to discuss this at the short meeting on Friday to be certain and then do the experimental work on Monday/Tuesday.
For the tune vs energy measurement, we also need to do some tests of the horizontal perturbator this afternoon to make sure it is working properly, which we will test using the flat triangle plate monitor (which has been used before to observe sidebands for the horizontal tune so should be OK). For the actual tune measurement we hope to still use the new monitor which should give a sum/difference signal properly (this new triangle plate monitor by Sakamoto-san is being adjusted geometrically today) but should in any case record both sets of data.
More updates coming later I'm sure...
Update 5:27PM (Japan time): I've added a few plots after analysing the dispersion control data. Discussion may be useful!
