Marshall Gediminas
The commander of a crusade, a Marshal is equivalent to a Captain. Gediminas was appointed by the High Marshall for the Orpheus Crusade after he won fame during his previous assignment.
Back in the time, he was the Castellan of the 9th Fighting company during the Laudislauss Crusade. Basically, when the 3rd Company was busy showing the middle-finger to the Inquisition, the 4th arranging their beard, the 5th being paranoid heretics TOTALLY MORE LOYAL THAN ANYONE ELSE, PRAISE THE EMPRAH, the 6th setting things on fire rescuing civilians and the 8th cover-camping behind fortress walls defending strategic positions, you could count only on the 9th to get shit done. After normal work many feats of strength, Gediminas was distinguished in front of all the Crusade and rewarded by the command of the Orpheus Crusade.
Emperor's Champion
Before a battle, one of the Black Templars will have a vision of the Emperor. This Marine will be declared the Emperor's Champion as their founder Sigismund once was, be given the Black Sword and the Armour of Faith by a Chaplain, and serve as an inspiration for the rest of the Crusade. Things usually go badly if a crusade doesn't have an Emperor's Champion with it, that's why a new one is appointed as soon as the previous one dies (which occurs quite often considering that fact that there is only 10 Black swords in the entire galaxy and thus the one carried by the Emperor's Champion as pretty good chance to be a fake one). the emperor, blessed be his mesmerizing generosity, always dubs a Sword Brethren to be his champion.
