The Ideal Dental Experience

Why do so many patients dread going to their dentists? It’s the whole setup. The reclining chair. The bright light glaring at your face. And the whirring of the drill. Yes. All these things contribute heavily to an atmosphere of anxiety, making the patient imagine severe discomfort and pain before it actually happens.

But it need not be this way. There is an ideal dental experience, one that a number of dental practices have strived for.

It begins with a good dentist-patient relationship. Dentists are doctors too, and as such, need to practice good bedside manners to establish trust and rapport between themselves and their patients. The first step in the ideal dental experience is the development of confidence and the shedding of fear in a patient.

Once a patient gets over their initial fear of visiting their dentist, it’s now up to the dental staff to make them feel that going to the dentist is actually a good thing. It’s like going to a favorite restaurant or store, where the staff and employees treat clients and customers like family. This kind of experience is what makes patients come back.

Patients who look forward to going to their dentists have indeed gone through the ideal dental experience.
