Braces are an effective treatment to correct misaligned teeth. Many dentists recommend braces during adolescence, especially if the there are many aspects to correct. After getting the braces taken out, one usually uses retainers for a certain period. Despite these protocols, many people report changes in their teeth years after wearing braces. Kami Hoss, MS, DDS, shares that while many people don't need another round of this treatment, there are adults who might need to wear braces again to improve their dental alignment. Those who had braces during their adolescent years might need to wear it again after a few years, especially after their wisdom teeth grows. These teeth might be impacted or might cause crowding.

These days, there are other forms of braces aside from the traditional metal wire and brackets. With the recommendation of their dentist, one can go with an Invisalign, lingual, ceramic, and clear braces that can make the corrective device look subtle. While it's possible for a person to undergo this dental treatment twice, dentists like Dr. Kami Hoss suggest treating other dental or periodontal conditions before getting braces.

As a person ages, their teeth and gums go through wear-and-tear. Habits, diet, and medical conditions might affect their dental health. Before installing the braces, dentists usually examine the teeth first for fitting and other treatments. Broken tooth, cavities, gingivitis, and other conditions must be treated first. After the necessary preparations, a person can get braces. To make sure that the treatment works, one must follow through with the check-ups, adjustments, and the aftercare to ensure that their teeth stays aligned for a long time.
