The baby is doing well; moving a lot and keeping us excited. I often wish that I could see inside my stomach and watch what is going on in there when I feel all of the moving. I read and continue to hear stories of pregnant women who get their bellies rubbed or touched by complete strangers when they are in public. So far, I have not had that happen to me and believe me, I'm not looking forward to it happening.
Last night Jim and I were out to eat while our house was being walked through by a potential buyer and the waitress suggested a gluten free alcoholic drink for me. Jim and I were kind of laughing and smiling to ourselves when we told her that I was pregnant and no thank you. She told us she had no idea. It's funny how we think the pregnancy is so obvious to the world; especially me with feeling and seeing my growing belly, and others who aren't looking for it, don't notice. It was around that moment that Jim realized that he hasn't used the "pregnancy card" yet. The, "My wife is pregnant and needs to (fill in the blank)". Last night's blank was: EAT. I had been cleaning pretty much all day long in preparation for the house showing and I was definitely feeling hungry and tired. We showed up to PF Changs without a reservation and we were told it was a 35 minute wait so I suggested we walk around the mall to pass time. When we got back to the restaurant to turn in our buzzer, Jim asked the hostess, "If I would have said my wife is pregnant and we could really use a table right now, would that have worked?" She looked at him (then at my stomach) and said, "I had no idea you were pregnant; yes, it would have worked on me." Something tells me that the "pregnancy card" is going to be played very soon and possibly often.
This past week seemed eventful. My Uncle Tom had to have open heart surgery. He lives in California so my mom traveled there to be with him. We were all very concerned and praying constantly for him. He seems to be making a slow, but sure, recovery.
So after our Fourth of July fried vegetables I got to thinking that the one and only last food item that we didn't fry that I haven't had in a long time is a doughnut. I mentioned it to my Dad and not even a couple hours later I was getting a phone call that the dough was made and the fryer was heating up and to "Come on over." Jim and I put on our shoes and headed right there. Once again he put a smile on our faces with fresh, warm gluten free doughnuts. My Dad is truly so thoughtful and one-of-a-kind!
Jim and I were able to get to our lot to take our first official picture with our sold sign. While Jim was maneuvering the camera on top of the car to get our pictures, the neighbor came out and offered to help us take our pictures. He and his wife and kids seemed very nice and I think we are really going to enjoy our new neighborhood. Like I said, we had a house showing yesterday and we have another one this weekend so changes are sure to come here very soon. We're excitedly nervous and very, very thankful for this exciting opportunity to build our Dream House.
