Zoe will always be my "kitty baby". Here she is laying on my belly this past week while I was outside on our back porch. I'm very confident that she senses the baby in my belly by the way she's been laying on my stomach more lately. I'm excited to see how the baby reacts to her laying on my stomach as I begin to feel the baby kicking & moving.
Another week of pregnancy has come and gone. Here's my 16 week pregnancy photo taken yesterday. It's very true what they write in all the pregnancy books about morning sickness usually going away during this week. Sure enough, I am feeling almost total relief from the morning sickness. It's a beautiful thing, let me tell you; however, the stomach pains and headaches I was complaining of in last week's post, most likely from potential food allergies, have sadly taken the place of morning sickness. I've got an appointment to see a Gastroenterologist this week and an appointment to see an allergist at the end of the month. I hope I'll figure something out here soon enough because my biggest concern is the baby's health during all of this pain I'm feeling.
In the meantime, I'm trying to enjoy the pregnancy for the experience and miracle that it is in our lives. I try to take about a minute every morning when I wake up to have some time with the baby by listening to the doppler and saying a prayer over our future baby. It's a quick moment that I can have with the baby and with the Lord for giving us this miracle. I definitely feel like I am starting to look more pregnant and having fun telling people that I am pregnant. My very excited student continues to ask me every day how I am feeling and asks about the baby.
This weekend was bittersweet to say the least. It began with Jim and I taking a spontaneous trip to a dealership to look for a family car. Jim was well prepared and had done his research on what we were there to see and he used his knowledge and negotiation skills quite well. We traded the Mazda that I bought before we got married and drove off with our 'new to us' Ford Taurus SHO. Today was sad watching the Shelby get picked up by the shipping company to be taken to its new owner in Texas. Jim took it upon himself to sell the Shelby to 'better our family" which was a big sacrificial decision for him to give up his car so that we have a security blanket for the years to come. I know it was emotional for me to watch it go up on that shipping truck and I can only imagine the thoughts and feelings that Jim was feeling as well. We had a LOT of great memories and fun in that car. I'm sure, though, that we will have fun and make great new memories in our SHO; especially when I think about a future little baby in the backseat making memories with us!
Next week I have my 17 week check up appointment. Supposedly we can find out if we're having a boy or a girl on our 20 week visit. I'm totally up for it being a surprise so we'll see if we make the final decision to find out or continue to keep it a secret until the day the baby is born. I know we'll have some anxious family and friends so I'll say a future sorry to my Mom if we decide to keep it a surprise! hee, hee =)
Here's a memory of us in the Shelby and a picture of the new family car that we bought yesterday. I don't think we ever thought that we'd sell both the Mazda and Shelby in the same week and get a new car. We had a lot of fun finding the new car together and it's a day and experience we'll always remember.
