17 Weeks

Week 17 has been a good week. It started off with Jim and I going to Babies R Us to price shop cribs, car seats and strollers. While we were there, we saw "Daniella Bedding", the name of the crib bedding for a girl's bed. I thought it was so cool to see my name on something. It's rare to see Daniella (Danielle is more common) written on something.

This weekend we went to the Medina General Hospital Baby Fair. We got a lot of useful and free information along with a tour of the birthing center where the baby will be born. I think we both enjoyed seeing where our baby will be brought into the world and where we'll be spending the first few days of its life. I have noticed that the baby is moving and kicking a lot when I listen to the doppler. It's really cool to hear how active this little 5 inches of baby is right now. I also had my 17 week doctor visit and the baby and I checked out just fine. The doctor is planning to check the baby at 37 weeks to see if the lungs are matured and then I will have a scheduled C-section. One of my female students confidently told me yesterday that I am having a girl and she can just tell! That made me laugh. Just today, a different female student told me, "Don't lift that" as I was reaching up to get something off of the book shelf. I smiled and told her that she sounded just like my husband; I think that made her feel special.

There's not too much else new to report during this past week of pregnancy. Zoe continues to lay on my stomach as though she senses the baby. I was able to take another picture of her this past Monday looking as though she was listening to the baby's heart beat. Our friends came over with their 3 kids; one who is a 9 week old. Jim and I really enjoyed getting to snuggle with him most of the day. I got a picture of Jim holding him with the two other kids and Jim took a picture of him sleeping on my shoulder. He's a little angel. For some reason I kept meaning to take a 17 week picture and would either forget or not want to by the end of the day. Jim decided to take a picture of me after working a 12 hour day yesterday when I was not feeling so well and totally exhausted.

I think Jim and I are both ready for Memorial Day weekend. It will be nice to have an extended weekend. I hope our LATE arriving spring weather continues to greet us with warm air and minimal rain for our time off of work. Happy Memorial Day to all of you; enjoy and be safe.
