President's Letter 2008

It is customary for the President of JDA UK to write a letter after every reunion. Last year this was missed out and I offer my humblest apologies for that.

Like the reunions in the past this year’s event passed without any hitches. There was sadness around because in the past six months we have lost two members of JDA. Dr Nalu Vaghjiani and Dr Vinu Patel.

In my report I pay special attention to the sad demise of Dr Nalu Vaghjiani as he was the founder member of the JDA UK

Dr Nalu Vaghjiani’s presence was very much missed as he is not amidst us any more. In the past meetings he has been the life of our reunions with his laughter and witty jokes. All this was missed. We shall always remember the spirit that he used to infuse in the reunions. The JDA was his brainchild and his hard work and dedication can never be forgotten .We need to pay tribute to this thorough gentleman and keep his dream not only alive but to make it grow and grow. And in this respect what better tribute can we give other then making sure that we all try and attend the next years reunion with the singular thought as to how much happy he would he have been to see such a huge crowd in the reunion. The crowd at the next year’s reunion would be a testimony to that. Nalu’s vision of JDA was that of a big extended family, and let us proves that this huge family gets together in the next reunion.

Next years reunion has been planned two weeks after the bank holiday. May I request you to put this date in your diary?

There has been a general opinion that we change the venue for next year and this is being looked in to. Hinkely as you all remember had been our favourite venue nut I understand that the cost of hiring a room has now gone up to more than a hundred pounds a night. Were as the Water Mill only charges fifty-five pounds and the quality of food is extremely good.

This time the AGM was well attended and lots of fresh ideas have been put forward. We observed two minutes silence to respect the sad demise of Dr Nalu Vaghjini And Dr Vinu A Patel.

This year it was nice to see some grand children of a couple of our members who were a good source of entertainment to us all.

I would like to take up this opportunity to thank every one who has supported the JDA by their presence. I also appreciate the support of those who could not make it to this reunion because of their prior commitments but very much hope that they would be able to attend next year.

With fondest regards

Dr Lalit Nirmal
