Report from Dr L Nirmal

PROPOSED REUNION OF THE OLD SUDENTS OF M P SHAH MEDICAL COLLEGE IN THE YEAR 2002.

MEETING WITH THE DEAN DR J OZA

I had a very fruitful talk with the Dean of M P Shah Medical College regarding the proposed reunion of the old students of M P Shah Medical College from U K, U S A and East Africa. It was proposed that we should have this reunion in Dec 2001/ Jan 2002.

Mr Oza has very kindly agreed to host the meeting and has been very co-operative in extending all the help he can in order to make this very first and unique reunion.

The format of the reunion was discussed as follows.

A Thursday Delegates arrive (Flight from Mumbai arrives at 12.30 pm.) Registration and socialising

A Friday 2 sessions in the morning and one in the afternoon o Evening Session to consist of

(a) Awards to outstanding students

(b) Reunion and tribute to our teachers from the past.

A Saturday 2 sessions in the morning.

o Afternoon at leisure.

o Evening Dinner Dance and cultural programme

A Sunday Day trip to Pirotone Island or Reliance or similar

A Depart on Sunday or Monday

As host Dr Oza has agreed to organise the Hotel Accommodation. There are three good hotels

Vishal 7km from Jamnagar

Orbit 21 km from Jamnagar

Essepreso 26 km from Jamnagar.

It has been proposed that we invite as many graduates as we can from UK, USA, East Africa and various other places.

Friday and Saturday sessions to consist of topics of recent development in Medicine and 2 sessions for giving information to local graduates on the migration formalities to various countries.

There have been a couple of interesting projects that the Dean is working on which requires some financial assistant from the old graduates now settled abroad. Jamnagar Doctors' Association has already in the past donated money for computer and a photocopying machine. There is at present some balance amounting to 2 lac Rs. They need some thing like 8 lac Rs for an outdoor auditorium. This matter can further be discussed and I am sure we could be some assistance to our ALMA MATTER.

I WOULD VERY MUCH APPRECIATE ANY COMMENTS ON THIS PROPOSED REUNION.
