APC Smart-UPS 3000va (3kva)

這次輪到設定的是 APC 的不斷電系統 (tower) 直立式 3000va 含網卡。是還不錯，但就如很多的資訊設備一樣，還是要靠翻找光碟中的資料，再問問電腦公司的人，才有辦法安裝並達到最大的功效。

硬體方面，電源接頭跟台灣的不一樣，是美國機房中用的，所以還要設一筆水電安裝費，把電源 30 安培的美式電線插座設好在機房中。

連上電源之前先打開正面下方層板，把機體裏的電線接上電池，注意要按壓兩次，有兩次「卡達」聲才正確。

接下來就可以設定網卡了，設的時候要注意一下，先抄下網卡的 mac 位址，再用 console 線（APC 內附的特製 console 線），打 telnet 再下一些指令下去設定 ip。

第一次我用光碟中的 tcp/ip setup wizard 去設定 ip ，結果是失敗的；可以設定，但用 browser 連上管理 ip 時是不能連線的，網卡沒有跑出正確設定，但奇怪的是用手冊的 ping 指令 (加參數 -l 110) 後，就可以設定好網卡 ip（但此時 mask 和 gateway 的位址都不是正確的），再用 browser 下去作 mask 及 gateway 位址的修正。

所以最理想的設定APC 的 ip 方式就是用終端機指令去設定。

UPDATE: 連好 APC 專用的 serial port 的線。關 WINDOWS 的 firewall . 然後用 putty 程式，選 serial 介面登入， 9600 bps, 8 dada bits, no parity, 1 stop bit, and no flow control. 連線。連線後按 ENTER 鍵，出現 USER NAME 時輸入 apc ，然後 PASSWORD 亦鍵入 apc。

在 CONSOLE 內輸入以下指令：

• 1. help

  2. ?

  3. tcpip -i your.ip.address

  4. tcpip -s your.subnet.mask

  5. tcpip -g your.default.gateway

  6. tcpip

  7. reboot

此時網卡會閃，不需重開電源，此為軟開機，網卡會重設 ip。之後可 ping 到網卡代表成功。

接下來 windows 若有過去裝過 powwerchute ，要移除之、並重灌 powerchute shutdown 以指定使用新的 apc 網卡設備。

今天看到管理介面中，我插了七台主機，只用了百分之十七左右，有一個小時半左右可以撐。改天再用 PowerChute 來作主機電源管理。一台大約只用掉9安培的電量。

APC 的不斷電系統真的很不錯，從面板可以直接知道電能供給狀況，還可以用網卡控制主機關機。

要主機能主動關機，要安裝 PowerChute 這套軟體，安裝時要注意，有三個欄位，管理帳號、密碼、驗證碼 (auth phrase) 等，這三個值要和 ups 上的網卡一致。也就是說在安裝 PowerChute 之前去找到 ups 網卡管理介面，設定這三個值，最後驗證碼設完還是會變成 hidden auth phrase 這字樣，那是避免人家看到，而非真正寫入網卡的值。

安裝 PowerChute 後，當主機和 ups 兩邊的三個值都一致，就能建立雙邊溝通。當 ups 無市電供應，會傳信號給主機，主機會計算秒數，在設入 PowerChute 的 config 值（如：秒數）滿足條件，就能啟動關機機制。

這些在說明書上沒寫，實在是很奇怪，還好我打到台北找技術部門求助才能安裝好。

工程師也提醒要注意在 PowerChute 管理介面中的 Turn off the UPS when the shutdown finishes 這選項不要勾，以免第一台主機關機後，就把 ups 關了，其他台接上 ups 的主機（主機可裝在延長線上，且延長線裝在 ups 上）就沒電可用了。

我目前的設定是大部分主機持續兩分鐘 on battery 後就關機，但 Turn off the UPS when the shutdown finishes 這選項不要勾。最後留一台設成持續十分鐘就關機，但 Turn off the UPS when the shutdown finishes 這選項要勾，就順便把 ups 關掉。

要能讓主機能主動再開機，聽說 ups 的網卡無法支配它能控制的主機（有灌 PowerChute 的主機) 中的 bios wake on lan 的功能。必須設定 bios 的 AC/Power 選項： power management or advance management --> Boot config --> AC-Link --> Power On (不要選 Power Off 或 Last State). 這樣的話，當復電時， ups 自動會送電給各主機，主機 bios 接受到電，就會 power on 開機，以達成自動復機。

目前已經照這個設定設置好，就看星期天台電斷電，主機房中的伺服器能不能夠正常自動關機且復機了。後續狀況再報。

Update 20100116: 很好! 主機房幾台伺服器遇斷電能自動關機、復電也能自動復機了。就是照以上準則的去設定就對了。

因為我看英文沒什麼障礙，下次買 ups ，還是會選 APC 的。

Site Wiring Fault or Building Wiring Fault Indicator LED is on

Solution

The Site Wiring Fault LED light is only present on 120V UPS and Surge products. On APC UPS products this indicator is typically on the rear panel. The purpose of this indicator light is to warn you that there are problems with your building wiring that may result in a shock hazard.

APC recommends that you have a qualified electrician inspect your wiring for one or more of the conditions listed below.

Reasons why the Site Wiring LED light will illuminate:

1. Overloaded neutral wire (>5vdc measured between Neutral and Ground).

2. Reversed polarity (hot and neutral wires are reversed).

3. Missing ground wire. (Note: this also includes using a 3 prong to 2 prong adapter)

If the outlet that the APC UPS unit is plugged into is not properly grounded or properly wired, the unit will attempt to absorb the excess voltage instead of redirect it to ground. It would be like attempting to catch a bullet with a catcher mit, where as if the light is not on it would be able to redirect the excess voltage to ground. Therefore, in order to maintain your warranty and protection under APC's Equipment Protection Policy, be sure that the APC unit is only plugged into a properly grounded outlet where the Site Wiring Fault Indicator (SWFI) light is not illuminated.

All of APC's UPSs with the exception of the Matrix-UPS and the Symmetra Power Array have a small red LED light that is called a SWFI. On some UPS models, this LED is referred to as the Building Wiring Fault Indicator. Both have the same function. On most UPS models, the light is located on the rear of the unit near where the output receptacles are located.

一、UPS之裝設

1.     地線

1)基本上，要使UPS有防雷擊能力而不損毀，一定要有地線。故APC強烈建議使用者安裝地線。

2)Smart-UPS背板有一 “ Site Wiring Fault ” 紅色LED。此燈亮起時表示地線不良，可能為以下三種情形之一：

       (1)無地線

       (2)極性顛倒

       (3)中線過載

2.     插頭

        1)2200VA以上之UPS其電線電流負荷量達15A以上，因此其插頭為20A以上。這種情況下，以SU3000為例，自配電盤的保險絲開始，配線、插座、UPS插頭、UPS電源線，UPS斷電器等全部須能負荷30A以上，才是安      全的用電環境。2200VA以上隨機附有適用插座，請參閱下表。

3.     擴充卡安裝

        1.安裝擴充卡前，請先將UPS放電。（Smart-UPS）

        2.如遇UPS有任何不正常情況，請先移除所有連接的擴充卡再行測試。

4.    裝設完成

        安裝完成後開機，UPS即開始自我測試。任何時候懷疑Smart-UPS有不正常情況，請嘗試冷啟動。（建議安裝完先充電幾小時）

電腦在安裝網路印表機 (如 toshiba 等影印機系統) 會造成apc的snmp入侵感應，而觸發 email 警告機制，可不用理會。

影印機帶的 windows 掃描程式，也會發出 snmp 訊號（每次開機都會，很煩），造成apc的snmp入侵感應，而觸發 email 警告機制，若沒有用到，就移除之。
