Dr. Friedel Heading Psychiatry Department
Dr. Robert O. Friedel, a nationally recognized authority on the drugs used in treating psychiatric conditions, has been named chairman of the psychiatry department at the medical College of Virginia School of Medicine, Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond. Formerly vice-chairman and director of clinical services in the department of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at the University of Washington School of Medicine, Seattle, Dr. Friedel succeeds Dr. James L. Mathis, who resigned July, 1976, to become chairman of the psychiatry department at East Carolina University School of Medicine in Greenville, N.C. Serving as acting chairman during the interim was Dr. Henry K. Silberman.
