The Hawthorn Park Board of Directors has recently purchased four new mailbox scrolls for the convenience of residents who may have a need to replace their mailbox scroll because of damage. As many of our residents already know, damage to mailbox scrolls usually occurs when a vehicle or a vandal hits a mailbox and breaks or cracks the cast aluminum scroll holding the mail box to the pole. It is possible in some cases to repair a scroll by having it welded or attach the damaged scroll to the pole by using clamps or wire. If these solutions are not possible, you will need a new scroll. It is important to note these scrolls are custom made and they must be purchased from the company which manufactured and sold the pole/mailbox /scroll combination to Neal communities, the Hawthorn Park developer.
Once ordered, it took several months to receive these scrolls after they were ordered. The new scrolls appear to be much sturdier than the ones which are now installed on our mailbox poles. Unfortunately, they are not cheap; they cost $80 each. If you need a new scroll, or have any questions, or need help, call LEN LESJAK, at 795-3795. Len prefers cash to checks!
